1996 - Container Terminal Concession signed and construction 
            commenced
1998 - Container Terminal started operation with 6 Post-Panamax
            gantry cranes
1998 - Port of Salalah received the prestigious national award for
            "Investment Project of the Year"
1998 - Berths 3 and 4 are completed
1999 - Sets world record for productivity with more than 250 moves per
            hour
2000 - Delivery of 5 new Super Post-Panamax gantry cranes
2000 - Concession agreement for operating the General Cargo Terminal 
            signed, Port privatized and Port of Salalah becomes Port
            Authority
2002 - Bunkering operations through BP Marine commence
2002 - Volumes exceed the design capacity for the first time
2003 - Major expansion project including breakwater and 2 new berths 
            approved
2003 - Port of Salalah achieved its first 2 million TEU in a single year
2005 - Port of Salalah handles 2.5 million TEU in a single year
2005 - Port of Salalah handles its 10th million TEU
2006 - General Cargo Terminal receives new multi-purpose cranes
2006 - Port of Salalah started using the Cavotec MoorMaster system as
            one of the first ports in the world
2006 - Delivery of 6 new Super Post-Panamax gantry cranes
2007 - Berth 5 is inaugurated increasing annual capacity to 3.6 million 
            TEU 
2007 - General Cargo Terminal handles 2.8 million tonnes - a growth of 
            21% compared to 2006
2008 - Berth 6 is completed increasing annual capacity to 4.5 million TEU
2008 - Government of Oman signs MOU with Port of Salalah on
            construction of 3 new berths
